British avant-jazz explorers Edrix Puzzle will be on stage for a special performance that showcases their boundary-pushing approach to rhythm, texture, and improvisation. Known for their intense sonic landscapes and genre-defying compositions, the London-based band will bring their bold, future-facing sound to Hastings.
Blending elements of spiritual jazz, left-field electronics, and cinematic groove, Edrix Puzzle have built a reputation as one of the UK’s most compelling live acts. Their performances move fluidly between tightly arranged passages and raw, improvisational energy, creating a dynamic experience that keeps listeners fully engaged.
This session will feature new material, re-imagined versions of fan favourites, and the electrifying interplay that has made the group stand out on the UK jazz circuit. Nick Costley-White is one of the most in-demand jazz guitarists in the UK.
Renowned for a deep understanding of the jazz tradition, he combines his virtuoso technique with a uniquely distinctive style of improvisation. Costley-White has performed with many of the UK’s most celebrated musicians, and played to audiences across Europe, Asia and Australia.
Nick has released three albums to date, the most recent of which, Poncha, was released in February 2025. It is a deeply personal collection of original compositions. Using a heady brew of cultural influences, his music skilfully blends dance rhythms and playful melodies from Brazil and Cuba with the harmony and swing of American jazz. Within the tunes lie a melodic and highly rhythmic approach to composition interpreted with style, flair and energy.
For this session, Nick will be playing with James Maddren and Conor Chaplin, who together form one of the most renowned and exciting rhythm sections in the world, regularly performing with the likes of Gwilym Simcock and Brad Mehldau.

Saxophonist Kevin Figes brings his band ‘Wallpaper Music’ to Jazz Hastings to launch their third album release ‘Wallpaper Music III’, which features a wide range of influences including jazz, folk, song, rock and contemporary classical.
In his four star review for Jazzwise, John Fordham described their previous record as a “…kaleidoscopic blizzard that swerves between tightly through-composed parts and free improv, shifts from dreamy voice and flute lines to knotty post-bop sax motifs.” London Jazz News said the band was “a tour-de-force….an exhilarating, swirling, never predictable ride.”

In 2017, Elina Duni and Rob Luft’s paths crossed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, marking the inception of a unique project. They have since toured the world and released two critically acclaimed albums on ECM Records in a quartet formation.
For this session, they’ll be promoting their new 2026 album, Reaching for the Moon. A stripped-back duo effort, it revisits the essence of their initial meeting.
Here we can witness the stark beauty of Elina Duni’s vocals blending with Rob Luft’s crystalline guitar lines in a mesmerizing dance. Together, they weave a tapestry of songs that evoke the mystery and joy of the night, the moon, and the magic that lives within us all. This musical journey is a gentle caress, a soothing lullaby that offers hope in the darkness, reminding us of the solace of home.
Born in Albania but now living in Geneva, Elina won the Swiss Music Prize in 2017. Rob was crowned ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ in the 2025 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.

Hasting’s vibrant jazz scene is set for a powerful dose of energy as Matt Ridley’s Antidote take the stage for a special live performance. Led by acclaimed bassist and composer Matt Ridley, Antidote has earned a reputation for its dynamic blend of contemporary jazz, intricate rhythms, and expansive improvisation. Matt Ridley has performed across the UK and internationally with a wide cross section of artists, most prominently the Darius Brubeck Quartet, of which he has been a member since 2006. As leader of Antidote, he has released two critically acclaimed albums.
This session will feature music from the band’s celebrated recordings as well as brand-new material, showcasing Ridley’s imaginative writing and the ensemble’s razor-sharp interplay. Antidote promises an evening that is both boldly creative and deeply engaging.
